AU Professor and Student Mikaela Bush Attend Annual Conference

AU Professor Dr. Deborah Sullivan of Ashland and senior Mikaela Bush of Radnor, Ohio, attended the Ohio Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (OAFCS) Conference held March 17 and 18 in Dublin, Ohio.

Bush, a family and consumer science education major, gave an oral presentation, "Advancing Nutrition Education with Interactive, Technology-Based Lessons" during one of the peer-reviewed educational sessions. She shared activities and information from her student teaching internship under the direction of Andrea Young, a 1988 AU graduate, at Crestview High School. Sullivan serves as Bush's academic advisor. Bush shared resources, curriculum ideas and technology-based lessons with her audience.

Bush is the daughter of Mike and Debbie, and is a 2012 graduate of Mount Gilead High School.

In addition to her involvement in the department, Bush is involved in varsity athletics, running on both the cross country team and track and field team. Her honors include being named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team, Alpha Lambda Delta honorary and making the dean's list every semester of her college career. At AU, Bush served as a resident assistant, as well as a member of the Family and Consumer Sciences Club.
