Alex Renner is the Starting Tight End for the 22nd Ranked Ashland University Football Team

Alex Renner of Toledo, OH, is the starting Tight End for the Ashland University football team, which is ranked 22nd in this week's AFCA Top 25 poll. This is the first time this season the Eagles have been included in the nation's Top 25. AU is off to a 2-0 start for the first time since the 2005 season. This Saturday (Sept. 15, 7 p.m.) the Eagles play at Ferris State. The Bulldogs are also 2-0. Ashland is one of four GLIAC teams that appear in this week's Top 25. In addition to the Eagles, Grand Valley State is ranked fourth, Saginaw Valley State is 10th and Wayne State is 19th. Ashland blanked Wayne State last week, 7-0. At the time, the Warriors were ranked fifth in the nation.

Renner is majoring in sport management.

He is the son of Brian and Kim Renner of Toledo.

Renner is a 2008 graduate of Sylvania Southview High.
