Ashland University Student Interns at Wedded Perfection

Powell resident Alexandra Wieging, a senior fashion merchandising and marketing major at Ashland University, completed an internship with Wedded Perfection in Columbus, Ohio. This internship was under the supervision of the owner of the company, Arielle Gavin.

Wieging is the daughter of Kevin and Tammy Wieging and is a graduate of Olentangy Orange High School.

She explained that Wedded Perfection is a wedding planning company where she worked in both the office space and traveled to venues for vendor and site meetings. While working for Wedded Perfection, Wieging's responsibilities entailed facilitating meetings with customers, setting up venue and vendor meetings; actively engaging with potential clients on social media; assisting in day-of coordination; and researching hotels, venues vendors and other items essential for the bride's day.

She said that something major she accomplished was managing the hotel blocks for clients, booking venues for couples, working with outside vendors to ensure a smooth event and creating a social media marketing plan.

Wieging said, "I applied fashion merchandising knowledge to complete tasks in outside fields and I used selling, customer service, visual merchandising, display layout as well as pricing skills. I gained an understanding of other career options I may be interested in as well."

The internship at Wedded Perfection gave Wieging more confidence in running events and teams, improved leadership skills and gave her an understanding of timeliness. From this internship Wieging realized, "I would like to do event planning for a venue rather than couples, instead of having different locations to go to every week, just have one that I would do booking, consultations and coordinating for," she said.
