Ashland University Student and Twinsburg Resident Receives National Phi Sigma Iota Scholarship

Ashland University junior Delaney Jones of Twinsburg, Ohio, was selected as a scholarship recipient by the Phi Sigma Iota Foreign Language Honor Society. The Phi Sigma Iota Scholarship is considered an honor as a national scholarship.

Phi Sigma Iota is a Foreign Language Honor Society with more than 250 chapters nationally and chapters in Mexico and France. The Gamma Tau Chapter of Phi Sigma Iota was installed on April 30, 1997, at Ashland University. To date, Ashland University has initiated 165 student members, eight faculty members and one honorary member.

Jones is the first student from Ashland University to apply for the Phi Sigma Iota Scholarship. Only active members may apply, and each institution's chapter may submit one application per year.

Jones is a Spanish and Political Science major with a minor in French. She is a member of the Newman Catholic Campus Ministry, French Club, Spanish Club, the Theta Phi Alpha Sorority, and the Phi Sigma Iota Honorary at Ashland University.

She is the daughter of Dale and Margaret Jones, and is a 2013 graduate of Twinsburg High School.

Jones currently serves as the Vice President of Ashland University's Gamma Tau Chapter of the Phi Sigma Iota Honor Society.
