Ashland University's Emerson Scholars Receive Recognition

2018 Apr 20

Clyde resident Keagan Frey, a junior marketing major, was one of Ten Emerson Scholars from Ashland University's Dauch College of Business and Economics to receive recognition and a scholarship at the Emerson Scholar Awards luncheon held on the Ashland University campus.

Frey is a 2015 graduate of Bellevue High School.

"We feel very privileged to have the Emerson Scholars Program in the Dauch College of Business and Economic," said Dr. Elad Granot, dean of the Dauch College. "The program benefits our seniors in many different ways. In addition to providing the extra financial assistance for their senior year, it also helps the students network with some of the senior managers from the company and learn about possible career opportunities with the company."

Paul McKnight, retired senior vice president for organizational planning at the Emerson Foundation, said, "Successful companies must have the right talent in the right place at the right time if they expect to win in the global marketplace. Because advancing people is a top priority at Emerson, we created the Emerson Scholars Program in the Dauch College of Business and Economics at Ashland University."

A $175,000 initial grant from the Emerson Foundation funded the creation of the Emerson Scholars Program in 2007 and the program was renewed in 2013 and was just renewed this year for another five years. "Emerson Scholars" are selected annually and McKnight said there have been 109 Emerson Scholars selected at AU through the years, including this year.
