2017 Jan 25

The Ashland University chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) will be hosting guest speaker Rachel Kerstetter on Thursday, Jan. 26, at 7:30 p.m. Kerstetter, a public relations architect, will be speaking on various topics pertaining to the public relations field. Those topics include the hiring process for PR professionals, resume building, interview tips and personal experiences. The event is open to all students.

The Public Relations Student Society of America is the largest student public relations society in the United States. The Ashland University chapter of PRSSA works to enhance students' education through mentoring, internships, competitions, and leadership opportunities. Students have the opportunity to join the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) once they graduate to network with public relations professionals and utilize resources.

Jenna Marsh, a senior public relations and strategic communication major from Uhrichsville, Ohio, has been the Ashland PRSSA president since the fall of 2016. She is a 2013 graduate of Claymont High School and the daughter of James and Dawn Marsh of Uhrichsville.

Kerstetter works for Sonnhalter, the country's leading B2T marketing and advertising agency. The company is driven to help manufacturers market their products and services to professional tradesmen. President Marsh chose Kerstetter as the speaker for this event.

"Kerstetter has been in agency public relations her entire career, manages clients' and Sonnhalter's public relations programs," says Marsh. "Those programs include media relations, social media, event planning, internal communications and writing all types of content. I believe our PRSSA members will tremendously benefit from meeting her."
