Bellevue Resident Award Endowed Scholarship

2014 Oct 20

Bellevue native Kelsey Yantz, who is a sophomore finance major at Ashland University, has been awarded the 2014-2015 Business Advisory Council's Endowed Scholarship.

Yantz received this prestigious scholarship in the amount of $1,053 at the fall 2014 Business Advisory Council Meeting that was held earlier this month. She was selected from among 19 eligible students, all of whom had a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

As part of the selection process, the students were required to submit a letter of interest, resume and three letters of references. Established in 2006, the scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time undergraduate junior majoring in business or economics. The scholarship criterion requires the recipient to have a record of outstanding leadership in the Dauch College of Business and Economics, on the AU campus and in the community.

Yantz, who is interning at Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde, Ohio, is involved in many activities on the AU campus. She is Community Service Committee member on Student Senate, a hall representative, a member of the Orientation Team and president of Kem Hall Council. Yantz also has leadership roles as a member of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Eagle Entrepreneurs, Ashland University Club Golf and Religious Life groups and activities.

The faculty in the AU Dauch College of Business and Economics describe Yantz as a woman of honor and integrity who is highly regarded by her peers. "She has strong organizational and interpersonal skills and her continued commitment to academics, leadership and service is commendable. We are fortunate to have her in the Dauch College of Business and Economics," a faculty member wrote.

Yantz is the daughter of Michael and Dana Yantz of Bellevue, Ohio and is a 2013 graduate of Bellevue High School. In addition to the major in finance, she has a minor in entrepreneurship.
