The Pre-Health Club was created to help students become more familiar and comfortable with preparing for professional medical careers. Some of the members are pre-med, pre-physical therapy, pre-physicians assistant, pre-vet, pre-optometry, and there are others as well. They bring in admissions representatives from various schools with these programs and they educate the students on admissions processes, how to prepare in the early year of undergrad, how to make their applications more competitive, etc. Also, they have meetings where seniors and/or alumni speak to the group to give advice on the whole process, since they have been through it themselves. Finally, they are trying to become more involved in medically-related service projects including Relay for Life, and possible volunteering at nursing homes and a free clinic.

Ashland University, ranked in the top 200 colleges and universities in U.S. News and World Report's National Universities category for 2013, is a mid-sized, private university conveniently located a short distance from Akron, Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio.
