The 18 piece Ashland University Jazz Orchestra is an auditioned undergraduate repertory based jazz ensemble. AUJO and its top jazz combo have been named outstanding bands at the Elmhurst College Jazz Festival, Villanova Jazz Festival and the Williamstown Jazz Festival. Yearly, the group sponsors the Maplerock Jazz Festival that features local high school jazz ensembles interacting with internationally recognized jazz artists and ensembles. Recent guest artists include Benny Green, The Matt Wilson Quartet, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, The Tony Monaco Trio, Pat Harbison, Doug Beach, Mark Colby, and many others. The group annually tours and performs overseas every four years.
