As a Student Dietetic Association, the group focuses on educating the Ashland University campus as well as the local community with events such as National Nutrition Month, which is celebrated every March. For the past two years, the dietetic association has educated the campus in a number of ways from a Nutrition Hot Bar in the Convocation Center to a Health Smoothie taste test at Tuffy's (an on-campus smoothie bar), and each year, Ashland University's SDA has won an award from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for its efforts. They also produce an Ashland Dietetics Blog, where students blog several times each week about hot topics in nutrition, as well as a Nutrition Newsletter, which is released quarterly with articles regarding trending nutrition information and recipes. Those in the program also have attended the Ohio Public Policy Day in order to learn more about the laws and policies that are being enacted that will change the profession.
