She is the daughter of James and Jill Brown of Hamilton. Brown is a 2013 graduate of Fairfield High School.

Brown credits much of her success to the Dwight Schar College of Nursing & Health Sciences experience.

"My professors have helped me a ton with being successful in my major and to stand out for an award like this," said Brown. "They are always encouraging me to ask questions and to come see them, and I take full advantage of that."

The Dwight Schar College of Nursing & Health Sciences mission is to educate individuals to become health care professionals committed to health related practice, leadership and service.

"I appreciate all that this department has done for me already, and it is only my second year of college," said Brown. "I am grateful for the professors' knowledge, enthusiasm and determination to see their students succeed."
