Kayla Gowdy Named New President for AU Theta Phi Alpha Sorority

2016 Feb 2

Ashland, Ohio - The Theta Phi Alpha Delta Delta chapter has elected Kayla Gowdy to serve as their next president for the 2016 year.

Gowdy, a junior from Hebron, Ohio, is double majoring in Political Science and Economics and is a member of the Ashbrook Scholar Program. Her studies also include minors in History and Theatre.

She is the daughter of Barry and Kimberly Gowdy of Hebron.

Gowdy is a 2013 graduate of Lakewood High School.

When asked about her new position Gowdy stated that, "As I embark upon this journey, I can't help but be eternally grateful for the two presidents who came before me. Then to Kaelyn for being my first impression of this chapter. Without her, I never would have received this opportunity. And to Jac for being my partner in crime these past two years. You truly are one of a kind and have shown me the ways of leadership. I am extremely excited to lead this chapter in the coming year. Without these girls, I would not be who I am."

The purpose of Theta Phi Alpha is for each member to hold true to her heart the six values embedded in their creed: Justice, Wisdom, Loyalty, Faith, Truth, and Honor. Their philanthropy includes Glenmary Home Missioners and The House That Theta Phi Alpha Built, which work with the plight of the homeless. Activities include their Sapphire Ball, Penguin Feud, and sisterhood events. Membership is open to female students with a 2.5 grade point average.
