Lima Resident Victoria Beverly Completes Summer Internship with Enterprise

2015 Sep 29

Lima resident Victoria Beverly, who is a senior business management major at Ashland University, interned at Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Cincinnati, Ohio, this past summer.

Beverly is the daughter of Marvin Beverly of Lima, and she is a 2012 graduate of Shawnee High School.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car is "committed to doing things the right way" by taking care of customers, employees and the communities that they serve. As the largest car rental brand in North America, Enterprise has contributed more than $200 million to local non-profits to improve communities, education and environmental stewardship.

Beverly described Enterprise as "a team-oriented atmosphere where everybody is supportive of you and wants to have fun as well as successfully run a business." She was responsible for ensuring customers understood the contract rules and were satisfied, as well as calling customers through the ARMS program to gather information on the date an individual was in need of a vehicle.

Area Rental Manager Christopher Grayson said he felt "totally comfortable allowing Victoria to come up with her own solution to an issue that arises with a customer" and noted that Beverly "has what it takes."

One major project Beverly completed was a group analysis of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) on the two core areas of Enterprise. Groups also had to develop solutions to strengthen the company. Beverly recalled, "I was excited to be familiar with the term 'SWOT analysis' - all of my classes that I have taken at AU actually led me to success with this internship."

Each day, Beverly assigned herself small projects at her branch to ensure the company's operations ran smoothly. Training co-workers, critical thinking, patience and problem-solving were a few skills Beverly enhanced throughout her time with Enterprise.

According to Grayson, Beverly's self-motivation, hard-work and determination enabled her to be "able to listen and voice [her] opinion and make good judgment calls, as well as coach others to success."

"She has done an incredible job of picking up new tasks, and concepts and competing to be the best she can be," Grayson explained. "She produces great work independently and in a team setting."

After graduation, Beverly plans to begin a career that will allow her to assist people. She enjoys helping people and believes in, as she put it, "going the extra mile." Despite her plans remaining undetermined, a position at Enterprise awaits Beverly's acceptance. Grayson was "very impressed with Victoria's performance" and believes Beverly "represents our brand as well as anyone on our team."
