Mariah Moyers of Wauseon, OH is a member of the Community Care Organization at Ashland University.

Moyers is majoring in marketing. Moyers serves as the peers for animal welfare co-leader. She is the daughter of John and Kathy Moyers of Wauseon. Moyers is a 2012 graduate of Evergreen High School.

Community Care is a seven-team program at the University. Its mission is to expand students' social and educational experiences, as well as to create an atmosphere of lifelong service to the community and an understanding of social responsibility.

The Green Team addresses environmental issues within Ashland County and organizes Green Week, stream clean-ups, leaf raking for the elderly and many recycled craft projects.

The Hunger Team holds regular visits to the pump house ministry, the local breakfast center, and organizes hunger fasts, Sleep Out on for the Homeless, and CROP Walk.

The Adopt-a-Grandparent Team visits the local nursing home, holding seasonal activities to brighten the residents' lives (including a fall pumpkin painting, Halloween party, Christmas party, and a valentines party. The team also organizes an annual "Senior Prom" for the residents.

PROUD (Partners Reaching out for Ultimate Development) is a tutoring program designed to enable Ashland University students to serve as tutors and mentors for at-risk students within the Ashland City School District. PROUD members meet with students twice a week. The participants form individual relationships with the youth by tutoring them. Members are also required to attend a number of educational meetings.

The Youth and Literacy Team is responsible for addressing the literacy needs of local children. Their projects include a weekly tutoring program with children in the community, the American Girl Club and corresponding American Girl events through the book store, as well as a book drive. They also plan regular story times at the AU Book Store.

The Habitat for Humanity Team works with Habitat for Humanity International. Their mission is to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness. The team's projects include fund-raisers for Habitat, a Spring Break trip and regular local builds for Habitat for Humanity of Richland County, and many advocacy events such as 1 in 6 day and the House Challenge.

The PAW (Peers for Animal Welfare) Team helps raise awareness of animal neglect and fundraises for the local animal shelter. The team also sponsors weekly dog walking at the local dog shelter and weekly visits to the cat shelter.
