2014 Feb 12

Megan Salatino, a resident of Follansbee, W.Va., is serving as the first intern for Ashland University's Gridiron Club.

Salatino, daughter of Mark and Pamela Salatino, is a 2012 graduate of Brooke High School. She is a sophomore at Ashland University and is majoring in public relations and strategic communication as well as sport communication.

During this internship, Salatino is responsible for promoting the organization through the use of social media and also to rebrand and recreate already existing media. In order to do this, Salatino goes out on the field and photographs the football players during the events.

Salatino was offered this internship with the help of Dr. Dariela Rodriguez, assistant professor of sport communication at Ashland University.

Through this internship, Salatino said she wants to learn what it takes to play an integral role in an organization, specifically in the industry of sport. Salatino is looking forward to this internship aiding her in becoming a better speaker and writer as well as an all-around better individual.

"This internship is a precursor to everything I want to do in the field, post my college career," she said. "It encompasses communication, promotion, photography, social media, and so many more medium of advertising."
