The Ashland University Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter was officially recognized by Habitat for Humanity International in 1995. The AU chapter of Habitat for Humanity has focused much of their efforts in Columbus, Ga., since 2005, but also has participated in the Collegiate Challenge in Phoenix City, Ala., and Albany, Ga. The campus chapter also has traveled to Raleigh and Wake Forest, N.C. The Habitat for Humanity organization works to provide adequate housing for everyone while also holding them accountable. Homeowners only pay for the materials to build the house, not the labor, which greatly reduces the cost. Their mission is about, "Giving people a hand up, not a hand out."

Ashland University, ranked in the top tier of colleges and universities in U.S. News and World Report's National Universities category for 2017, is a mid-sized, private university conveniently located a short distance from Akron, Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio. Ashland University (www.ashland.edu) deeply values the individual student and offers a unique educational experience that combines the challenge of strong, applied academic programs with a faculty and staff who build nurturing relationships with their students. ###
