Olivia Huff Completed Business Internship at Ashland University

2011 Sep 27

Olivia Huff of New Albany, OH, completed an internship through the Dauch College of Business and Economics at Ashland University.

According to Dr. Khushwant Pittenger, business professor and internship coordinator at Ashland, these required business internships are a good way for students to explore their career choices, network with professionals, build their resumes and develop applicable skills.

Huff interned with Ohio Hotel & Lodging Association in Columbus, OH, under the supervision of Executive Director Matt MacLaren.

Huff's duties included helping out with projects in the office, mailing information to current and new members, contacting members to update information, and planning events for the fall.

Her major projects included planning the Stars of the Industry luncheons that would take place in Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Columbus this month.

Huff said she learned about the hospitality industry, how different types and sizes of hotels and lodging properties operate, and the process a hotel takes to emerge from an idea to an actual running hotel.

"Being surrounded by all the hotel information and learning about it made me decide I actually want to work in a hotel," Huff said.

Huff is majoring in marketing and hospitality management.

Huff is the daughter of Wayne and Renee Huff.

Huff is a 2009 graduate of Gahanna Lincoln High School.
