Springfield Resident and Ashland University RA Helps Host NEOHO Conference

The 2017 Northeast Ohio Housing Officers (NEOHO) Conference was held at Ashland University on Saturday, Jan. 28 and resident assistants (RAs) across Northeast Ohio met at AU to engage in dynamic presentations, energetic learning and professional development.
Mellie Derry, a resident of Springfield and an RA at Ashland University, played a major role in the preparation and success of the conference.

"NEOHO has been an event that Ashland's Residence Life has been working on for two years," Derry said. "We were expecting around 300 RAs from other universities for a day full of presentations and friendly competition, and we were very excited about all the events we had planned for it."

Derry served as head of decorations on the NEOHO planning committee and presented a program called "Utilizing Your Campus' Resources" at the conference.

Derry, a junior marketing major, is the daughter of David and Joy Derry of Springfield, Ohio. She is a 2013 graduate of Greenon High School.

"After two years of planning, watching the conference come alive was truly an amazing experience. So many people worked so hard to allow this day to go as smooth as it did. Nearly 300 passionate Residence Lifers came out and presented, participated in competitions and showed their spirit together and it truly was a wonderful thing," said Derry. "Auxiliary Services got a lot of praise on their food and the guests enjoyed our beautiful campus, which we all knew already and never get tired of hearing. NEOHO was a wonderful success and we can't wait for it next year."
