Theresa Riley Completed Business Internship at Ashland University

Theresa Riley of Pittsburgh, PA, completed an internship through the Dauch College of Business and Economics at Ashland University.

According to Dr. Khushwant Pittenger, business professor and internship coordinator at Ashland, these required business internships are a good way for students to explore their career choices, network with professionals, build their resumes and develop applicable skills.

Riley interned with The Cake Shack in West Hollywood, CA, under the supervision of Owner Sven Gruber.

Riley's duties included organizing and counting the inventory and creating a document to keep track of it, as well as researching the market and competitors.

Her major projects included creating a document for maintaining inventory and writing a research report on market and competition.

Riley said she learned how difficult it is to start a business as well as some basics skills on tracking inventory.

"The internship demanded a lot of self-motivation and management, which will help me in many classes at Ashland University," Riley said.

Riley is majoring in hospitality management and entrepreneurship.

Riley is the daughter of Patrick and Carol Riley.

Riley is a 2009 graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School.
