Tiarra Kick Completed a Summer Internship at the YMCA

ASHLAND, Ohio --Lexington resident Tiarra Kick, who is a junior marketing major at Ashland University, interned at the YMCA in Mansfield, Ohio, this past summer. Kick is the daughter of Terry and Kara Kick of Lexington, and she is a 2013 graduate of Lexington High School.

The Mansfield YMCA was incorporated in 1867 and is a non-profit organization. One of the main things the YMCA stands by is strengthening the community by making sure everyone has the ability to learn and grow.

Kick had many duties while interning and these included:

• Managing marketing plans and assisting with the day-to-day marketing projects
• Assisting with communications and strategies with third party advertising and media firms as well as building a contact list
• Monitoring and analyzing marketing results to determine effectiveness and marketing budget efficiencies
• Assisting with the development of the 2016 Opportunities and Tactics with all program directors
• Enhancing the website, social media, membership emails, brochures and newsletters
• Enhancing the way the YMCA utilizes the Nationwide Campaign materials

A few of the projects that Kick completed were helping with the YMCA's National Campaign called Hop the Gap, the summer promotion and several other events hosted at the YMCA.

"My AU classes benefited me immensely for this internship, specifically Business Communications. Writing press releases were a weekly task," Kick stated.

After graduation, Kick has plans to be a marketing specialist/event coordinator for a company that "promotes a healthy lifestyle."
