Warren Resident Wins Award in Ashland University Coburn Art Gallery Exhibition

Danielle Smith, a resident of Warren, Pa., and a sophomore at Ashland University, won The College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Award for her sculpture titled "Strong Elegance." The $200 award was sponsored and selected by Dr. Dawn Weber, Ashland University's Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Smith is majoring in commercial art.

She is the daughter of Kerwin and Loraine Smith of Warren and is a 2014 graduate of Warren High School.

All of the award winners have been announced for the Ashland University 2016 Juried Student Art Exhibition that will run through April 1 in the University's Coburn Gallery.

The awards were announced at the opening reception of the exhibition on March 17.

This year's exhibition offered $1,100 in awards to student artists, including Best in Show, Bernini Award, Dean's Award, People's Choice Award and awards in each of the five art areas: painting, printmaking, sculpture, digital art and design, drawing and ceramics.
